Ludum Dare is one of the world’s largest and longest running Game Jam events, where creators are challenged to make a game from scratch in a single weekend. Ludum Dare #43 ran from Friday November 30 through Monday December 3rd with the theme “Sacrifices must be made.”
This was my second game jam, and I had decided to use Godot Engine for it… Which I decided to try to start learning less than a week before the jam started. Since I was using an engine I was mostly unfamiliar with, I made an effort to keep it as simple as possible. The hope was that it would be something my daughters (ages 4 and 7) would be able to play and enjoy.
All graphics were made over the course of the weekend using Inkscape for the vector drawings, and Blender to model the unicorns and then render them as tiny 2D sprites.
